VEP documents checklist

Pick who owns the car to see everything JPJ's registration form will ask for, so you have it ready before the portal times out.

    Who owns the car?

    Your ID

    You will need

    • Your full name and NRIC number

In the S0000000A format, spelled as on the log card.

    • Vehicle registration card (log card) as a PDF from OneMotoring

Up to 1 MB. A PDF downloaded from LTA fills most of the form for you; a scanned copy means typing every field.

    • Chassis number, engine number, make, model and year

      All on the log card.

    • Road tax expiry, registration date and ownership date

On the log card. Road tax must be valid to enter Malaysia.

    • COE number, category and expiry date

On the log card. The form recommends a COE with at least 6 months left.

    • Insurance company, policy number and expiry date

From your certificate of insurance. Insurance must be valid to enter Malaysia.

    • Phone, mobile, email and two addresses

A correspondence and a permanent address. JPJ's emails, including tag and renewal notices, go to this email.

Taken from the registration form at vep.jpj.gov.my and JPJ's VEP FAQ, read on 1 November 2026. After registering, VEPAMS asks you to upload your documents and pay for the tag.

Send us your log card and we apply for your VEP, S$125

WhatsApp us a photo of the log card. We fill in vep.jpj.gov.my and VEPAMS for you and chase it until JPJ decides.

    VEP documents questions

What documents do I need for a Malaysia VEP?

The owner's NRIC or passport details, the car's log card as a PDF from OneMotoring, and the road tax, COE and insurance details. A company also gives its registration number and a contact person, and anyone registering for someone else uploads the owner's authorisation letter.

Can I upload a photo of my log card?

The form takes a PDF of up to 1 MB. A PDF downloaded from LTA or OneMotoring lets the portal fill in the vehicle details itself; a scanned PDF works, but you then type every field by hand.

Do I need an authorisation letter?

Only when you register a car on behalf of its owner. The portal asks for it when you choose that option, as a PDF of up to 1 MB, and offers the template to download.

Step by step: downloading your log card from OneMotoring, the photo rules and the document mistakes that get applications rejected, then the full VEP application on vep.jpj.gov.my and VEPAMS. Company cars have their own page: company and fleet VEP.
