What is the Malaysia VEP?
The VEP, or Vehicle Entry Permit, is a permit issued by Malaysia's Road Transport Department (JPJ) that every Singapore-registered vehicle must have before driving into Malaysia. The Malaysia VEP is paired with an RFID tag linked to a Touch 'n Go eWallet, which the gantries read at the Causeway and Second Link. Without an approved VEP Malaysia record and an activated tag, a Singapore car can be turned back or fined at the checkpoint.
You can apply for the VEP yourself, for free, at the official JPJ portal (vep.jpj.gov.my). Most Singapore drivers use a VEP SG service like Radiant because the portal can error out, documents get rejected over small mismatches, and the RFID tag has to be installed and activated correctly. How the VEP Malaysia system works for Singapore cars
