VEP RFID Tag Installation & Activation

Your VEP RFID tag has to be fitted correctly, activated, and linked to your Touch 'n Go eWallet before it will scan at the border. We handle all of it: windscreen tags are installed at Danga Bay in Johor Bahru, and headlight tags at our Bishan office in Singapore. Installation is S$50 and includes activation, Touch 'n Go linking, and testing.

    Where Your Tag Gets Installed

The installation point depends on your tag type. Both options cost S$50 and include activation, Touch 'n Go linking, and testing.

Windscreen tag: Danga Bay, Johor Bahru

    S$50

    • Installed and activated on the spot at Danga Bay in JB
    • We shorten the appointment queue for you
    • Linked to your Touch 'n Go eWallet and tested before you drive off

Headlight tag: our Bishan office, Singapore

    S$50

    • We collect the headlight tag on your behalf
    • Installed and activated at our office in Bishan
    • Linked to your Touch 'n Go eWallet and tested before you leave

Prefer to fit a headlight tag yourself? We can post it to you at no charge. Postage takes around 3 to 4 weeks, and if a self-install is done wrongly the tag may need to be deregistered and reapplied for (S$168), so most drivers choose professional installation.

VEP RFID tag activation & Touch 'n Go linking

Fitting the tag is only half the job - the VEP RFID tag also has to be activated and linked to your Touch 'n Go eWallet, or it will not scan at the gantry. VEP activation is what tells the system the tag belongs to your approved VEP, and the Touch 'n Go link is what pays the road charge and tolls. We activate the tag at installation, link it to your eWallet, and test it, so you are not the one finding out it does not work at the Causeway.

Replacing a damaged or faulty VEP RFID tag

If your tag has stopped scanning, is peeling off, was damaged, or went missing - or you replaced your windscreen and lost the tag with it - you need a VEP RFID tag replacement. Message us what happened: we remove the old tag, fit and activate a new one, and re-link it to your Touch 'n Go eWallet. A tag is tied to one vehicle's VEP, so the replacement is re-issued against your existing VEP rather than a brand-new application.

    How RFID Installation Works

    1

    Message Us on WhatsApp

Tell us your vehicle and tag type. We confirm which installation option applies and arrange a slot that suits you.

    2

    Choose Your Installation Point

Windscreen tags are fitted at Danga Bay in Johor Bahru. Headlight tags are collected by us and fitted at our Bishan office in Singapore.

    3

    Professional Tag Installation

Your RFID tag is fitted in the correct position for reliable gantry detection and activated against your approved VEP.

    4

Touch 'n Go Linking & Testing

We link the tag to your Touch 'n Go eWallet and test that it reads correctly, so you know it works before you travel.

    Why proper installation matters

A tag that is positioned wrongly, unactivated, or unlinked will not be read at the gantry, and fixing a botched install can mean deregistering and reapplying at S$168. Our technicians fit the tag in the correct position, activate it against your VEP, and test it before you go, and if verification fails after our installation we reapply for a new tag free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions About RFID Installation

Where do you install VEP RFID tags?

Two places, depending on your tag type. Windscreen tags are installed and activated on the spot at Danga Bay in Johor Bahru. Headlight tags are collected by us and installed at our office in Bishan, Singapore.

Do you still offer on-site installation at my home or office?

No. We no longer offer mobile on-site installation. Installation is done at Danga Bay in Johor Bahru for windscreen tags, or at our Bishan office for headlight tags.

How much does RFID installation cost?

Installation is S$50 on top of the VEP application fee, for either the Danga Bay windscreen option or the Bishan headlight option. That covers fitting, activation, and Touch 'n Go linking. If you prefer, the headlight tag can be posted to you for self-installation at no charge; postage takes around 3 to 4 weeks, and an incorrect self-install can mean deregistering and reapplying (S$168).

How long does RFID tag installation take?

The fitting itself typically takes 15 to 20 minutes, including positioning checks, activation, and testing.

Can you install RFID tags on company vehicles?

Yes. We handle RFID tag installation for private and company-registered vehicles, and fleet installations can be organised together. Contact us to discuss your requirements.

What is VEP activation and why does my tag need it?

VEP activation links your RFID tag to your approved VEP and your Touch 'n Go eWallet. Without activation the tag will not be read at the gantry, even if it is physically fitted. We activate and test the tag at installation so it scans correctly before you travel.

Can you do a VEP RFID tag replacement if mine stopped working?

Yes. If your VEP RFID tag is damaged, peeling, lost, or has stopped scanning, or you changed your windscreen, message us and we arrange a replacement: the old tag is removed and a new one is fitted, activated, and re-linked to your Touch 'n Go eWallet. The replacement is tied to your existing VEP.
