Second-hand car VEP: the previous owner's record cleared, yours registered
The portal will not take your application while the previous owner's VEP is active. We clear it, apply in your name and fit your tag.
What's included
Previous owner's VEP deregistered
We file the Request for Deregistration with JPJ on VEPAMS, with LTA's transfer papers.
Your VEP application
We register the car in your name on vep.jpj.gov.my and VEPAMS, and follow it until JPJ decides.
New headlight tag, fitted and activated
Done at Danga Bay or Sunway Big Box in JB, or at our Bishan office, and linked to your Touch 'n Go eWallet.
What we need from you
- Your NRIC, or your passport if you are not Singaporean
- The car's log card as a PDF from OneMotoring
- LTA's Notification on Transfer of Ownership
- Your road tax and insurance details

How it works
- WhatsApp us your log card and LTA's transfer notice.
- We check whether the previous owner's VEP is still on the car, and clear it if it is.
- We apply in your name. In our experience JPJ approves most applications in 5 to 10 working days.
- We fit and activate your tag in JB or at Bishan.
Common questions
Can I do this myself?
Yes. Apply at vep.jpj.gov.my, and if the old record is still there, submit a Request for Deregistration on vepams.jpj.gov.my with LTA's documents. JPJ charges only its own fees.
What if I cannot reach the previous owner?
Message us with the car's details. JPJ's form asks for the NRIC registered on the portal as well as LTA's transfer notice, so we will advise the fastest way to clear the old record.
Can I drive into Malaysia while this is being sorted?
No. Since 1 July 2025 a car without an activated tag can be issued a RM300 compound at the checkpoint, and it cannot leave Malaysia until the compound is paid and the VEP is activated. A confirmation slip does not change that.
Is the tag on the car still usable?
Plan on a new tag in your name. Tell us what is on the car when you message us.
