Changed your car? A VEP tag cannot move, so we get you a new one
Send us both log cards. We clear the old car with JPJ, apply for the new one and fit the new tag.
What's included
Old car deregistered
We file the Request for Deregistration with JPJ on VEPAMS, with LTA's transfer papers.
New car's VEP application
We register it on vep.jpj.gov.my and VEPAMS and follow it until JPJ decides.

Common questions
Can I move my tag to the new car?
No. JPJ's FAQ says a VEP RFID tag is unique to each vehicle and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
Do I have to deregister the old car?
If you sold it, yes: JPJ's route for a change of owner is the Request for Deregistration.
Can I drive the new car into Malaysia before its tag is on?
No. Since 1 July 2025 a car without an activated tag can be issued a RM300 compound at the checkpoint, and it cannot leave Malaysia until the compound is paid and the VEP is activated.
Can I do this myself?
Yes. The guide to transferring a VEP covers each step, and JPJ charges only its own fees.
